Mind in Birmingham aims to provide high quality services for those experiencing mental distress. We will challenge stigmatisation, oppression and discrimination by raising awareness of positive well-being and recovery for all, resulting in a healthier society.

Mind in Birmingham deliver Recovery Based services. We believe that all of our services and future developments should adhere to the following vision and values. Mind in Birmingham is proud of its track record of providing services that offer people real choice and control in their lives. We will continue to endeavour to be at the forefront of the provision of high quality services to those recovering from mental distress. We are committed to further develop services and activities to prevent, minimise and complement the use of traditional psychiatric services.

Our Values

Services and developments will be based in the following values:

  3. Support based on individual needs and aspirations
  4. Support for people to be active citizens of their local community exercising their human rights and choices.
  5. Services are designed to offer the highest level of independence (interdependence*) possible.
  6. Mind in Birmingham will aim to challenge stigmatisation, oppression and discrimination at all levels and promote social inclusion
  7. All those using, working and volunteering will be equally valued as key contributors to the Association.
*Interdependence is about making allies, forming partnerships. It is about forming connections with other people.

Services will strive to offer

In order to ensure Mind in Birmingham will be able to meet the above it needs to employ competent staff, be in a strong financial position, make alliances with key stakeholders, have effective Service User involvement and effective staff consultation.
